Audubon’s Birds of Florida Exhibit

Audubon's Birds of Florida Exhibit

The Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art, located on the campus of the Smithsonian-affilated Museum of Arts & Sciences, is home to the largest collection of Florida art in the world and features a rotating collection of 2,600 Florida-themed oil and watercolor paintings. 

A special exhibition taking place through March 2 is John James Audubon’s Birds of America,  a monumental achievement of both art and ornithology. His collection of 435 prints and accompanying field notes changed the way people saw and understood bird life. 

A major portion of this production was Audubon’s six-month expedition to Florida in 1831-32. Audubon collected and painted 36 bird species and observed and wrote about 50 more during his time in Florida. Hyatt and Cici Brown have collected over 75 original Havell prints from Birds of America, which have a Florida connection

Orlando Ballet has several new productions for 2025.

In February, experience the classic story of Peter Pan with thrilling aerial elements, envisioned by Artistic Director Jorden Morris. Audiences will soar with Peter, Wendy and the Lost Boys as they travel to Neverland, encountering Tinker Bell, Captain Hook and more. This performance features awe-inspiring cirque-style flying scenes and dazzling choreography.  

Later in the season, enjoy a triple bill showcasing George Balanchine’s elegant Divertimento No. 15, Martha Graham’s playful Maple Leaf Rag with costumes by Calvin Klein and Alysa Pires’ hopeful Skyward.  The season concludes with the classic tale of romance, Giselle, a hauntingly beautiful ballet about love, betrayal and redemption.

Pensacola Beach’s Bands on the Beach

Bands On The Beach

Pensacola Beach’s popular outdoor concert series, Bands on the Beach, features a unique lineup of weekly performers sure to please every musical taste. 

Located in the beautiful Gulfside Pavilion overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, the series features regional artists performing a wide variety of music. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to the pavilion area. No pets are allowed and glass is prohibited. 

Bands on the Beach is from 7-9 p.m. every Tuesday night from the Gulfside Pavilion stage. It begins the first Tuesday in April and ends the last Tuesday in October.
