Can you use a Canadian issued accessible parking permit outside Canada?

Question

We have an accessible parking permit for my wife who has limited mobility. The permit was issued in Ontario but we plan to spend the winter in the U.S. Our we allowed to use our permit in countries other than Canada?

Answer

The short answer is yes, but it depends on the country. Canadians can use their valid accessible parking permits in any country that is a member of the International Transport Forum (ITF).

Member countries include the U.S., Canada, Mexico and all of Europe. A list of ITF members can be found here.
